Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle displayed his supreme story-telling abilities with his epic Slumdog Millionaire.
He showed that it was far from a one-off effort with his dramatic telling of Aron Ralston's story.
Aron's story in not high-action or high-dialogue - it is the tale of
one man's solitary fight for survival. Somehow, Boyle brings his story alive and puts us right there alongside him.
Aron's story is an amazing survival tale.
He was the ultimate young outdoors adventurer. He was invincible and unbreakable, and lived life on the edge. Aron didn't think he needed people in his life because his best friend was the great outdoors.
While out on a canyoning experience in Utah, luck deserts Aron.
Leaping across the rocks, he slips and slides down a crevice, which normally wouldn't be a problem - but joining him on the journey is a large boulder.
It pins one of his arms against the rockface and Aron can't move, and efforts to dislodge the rock prove unsuccessful.
Now begins his 127-hour fight for survival.
He is forced to reflect on his life and the mistakes he has made along the way.
He also must consider all the options possible if he wants to remain alive.
Aron's will to survive is incredible and his story is nearly impossible to believe. But it did happen and Aron's story is gripping.
