If you've ever teased someone for wearing denim on denim, it's time to say sorry.
It's also time to consider wearing denim, on denim, on denim.
The magic of Trelise Cooper made tripling up on on the jean fabric completely acceptable at New Zealand Fashion Week.
Cooper sent one model down the catwalk
wearing a combo of cropped denim pants, a bow-front denim sleeveless shirt and a denim waistcoat.
Although those pieces won't be on the racks until Autumn, you don't have to wait to get in on the building denim trend.
Light denim or its less-structured cousin, chambray, are everywhere at the moment.
Items like denim playsuits, denim vests and denim shirts have been on the backs of the likes of Alexa Chung and Ashley Olsen over the American summer.
Now it's our turn.
Chambray versions are the perfect warm weather alternative to denim and look great with two other big trends for summer - white and khaki.
Our designers, as well as department stores, are full of both light denim and chambray for when our weather warms up.
Workshop Denim has two very cute pinafore-style denim dresses, Madame Hawke has a big collared chambray shirt and Salasai an oversized chambray shirt.
For cheap fixes, the Glassons vest will rough up pretty summer dresses.
To try the trend out without splashing out, try and pick up one of The Warehouse's just-arrived denim shirts - they're bound to be snapped up.
