Nothing says "I'm quite popular" like six million people becoming your friend in a matter of days.
As if Barcelona midfield star Lionel Messi needed the confirmation. His new Facebook page attracted more than six million friend requests within a few hours of being set up.
"Welcome to everyone and thanks for
all the messages you have been sending me. Now we shall be closer with Facebook," Messi told his new posse.
A bevy of Webbys
Big names in the internet business are up for honours at this year's Webby Awards.
Justin Bieber has been nominated for the video "Justin Bieber Takes Over Funny Or Die", while Arcade Fire were noted for the video "We Used to Wait" .
Other celebrities to receive nominations include actors Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Chevy Chase and Meryl Streep and singers Katy Perry and Bob Dylan. The website Funny Or Die received 10 nominations while The New York Times website received 18. The Angry Birds app, which features birds slingshotting pigs for stealing eggs, was nominated in the best mobile games category.

Slim happy snaps

Want to know how your phone can make you skinny?
Well, there's a new app that can tell you how many calories are in the food that you photograph.
The iPhone app, called MealSnap, matches a picture of a meal to a database of about half a million food items. "The database can quickly help identity the food, how many calories there are, proteins, fat, carbs, vitamins, whatever you may want to know," said DailyBurn CEO Andy Smith.
"The pure act of tracking something can cause a psychological change that can help people on their health and fitness journey," Smith said.
"Just the simple fact of logging it makes me more aware of what I'm eating."
Royal hitch to go-go
The "Royal App" has been launched by the Royal Collection and features seven previous weddings, including Queen Victoria's marriage to Prince Albert in 1840 and the 1981 wedding of William's father Prince Charles to Princess Diana.
The app will be available to download for Apple and Android users, and will give them the little details of the famous weddings.
Last month, an app that featured all the latest information about this month's wedding was launched for iPad users.
