Book Review: Avoid Retirement and Stay Alive

Are you looking forward to retirement or dreading it? You should do neither, say David Bogan and Keith Davies in Avoid Retirement and Stay Alive (HarperCollins, $33). In fact, you shouldn't even contemplate retirement. Why? Because you'll need the money. The Government won't be able to afford superannuation at current levels for much longer. Even if you don't need the money, all money helps. And if you don't have a job, pursuit or goal of some sort you'll become boring and intellectually moribund.
Alan Clarke takes a different slant in Retire Richer (Global Publishing, $40). His message is how to earn enough in the years before retirement to enable you to retire happily and comfortably. He also shares how to invest wisely so that you can enjoy your retirement without the stress of worrying whether you own or earn enough to live comfortably.
Both writers make good points.
