Autumn's often the time when you're looking for garden inspiration, and the best place to find it, of course, is in someone else's garden.
The garden show season is generally over by the end of March, but New Zealand has many gardens that are open to the public all year round.
There
are too many to list - you can make up your own itinerary according to what you want to see.
The following websites are just a few that list open gardens - including gardens of international significance, small private gardens and spectacular civic gardens - all over New Zealand.
Organise a couple of friends, head off with cameras and notebooks and steal some ideas.
