Smooth Operators 4/5 No prizes for guessing the nature of this compilation.
Fans of Sky channel 63 will most appreciate this offering, a two-disc collection of mostly pop/rock love songs that kept saxophonists in business in the 80s, with a good mix of British and American acts and a couple of Aussies thrownin for good measure.
Artists range from Terence Trent D'Arby to Talk Talk and Roxy Music and, if you were listening to music in the decade that taste supposedly forgot, you'll probably know every track.
And it's a great listen. Who could forget Gregory Abbott's Shake You Down or Cutting Crew's (I Just) Died In Your Arms?
There are a couple of weaker tracks, where you know the artist has stronger material (Pseudo Echo's A Beat For You, Culture Club's Time) but on the whole it's a welcome nostalgia trip.
Favourite track: Duran Duran's Save a Prayer
Guilty Pleasure: T'Pau's Heart And Soul.
