Halcyon Digest - Deerhunter 4/5 Shoegazer seems such a negative term for music this exciting.
With elements of the Byrds and later bands like Ride and Lush coming through, Halcyon Digest is one of those albums that can lull you into a sense of bliss.
But it's the Atlanta band's other obvious influences thatget the blood pumping like alt-rock legends and former 4AD stablemates the Pixies.
Check out Desire Lines, a seven-minute romp, the last four instrumental minutes of which could have been lifted from Doolittle or Bossanova.
Coronado, meanwhile, on one hand the Veils gone sax-mad, also hints at raw 60s pop power seen more recently with the likes of the Strokes or Arctic Monkeys.
Despite the mix of styles it comes together well, with just the odd annoying track worthy of the skip button.
Turn on, lie back and drift into a halcyon daze.
