Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys - My Chemical Romance
4.5/5
Now we're having fun.
Not that My Chemical Romance ever stopped having fun. Despite the grim clothes and makeup of the Black Parade and beyond, and the emo tag that hung heavy around their necks, they were only ever enjoying themselves.
Surely, along with Muse, no one could channel Freddie Mercury and Queen like that and not have a giant cheese-eating grin on the inside.
Teenagers on the last album gave us a glimpse of something in abundance here - boys living it up. Only now they're in a Gorillaz-like near-future world racing down the highway with the pedal to the metal.
If you haven't heard Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) yet make an effort to do so - it's fantastic, but so are a lot of these tracks - there's not a lot of album filler.
If anything, you'll need a lie-down after listening to this album, such is its relentless pace.
