3.5/5
These Kiwi rockers have always demonstrated a knack for writing a good tune and, although their forte would seem from past material to be ballads (Ways to Run, Closer To Home), their live show proves they know their way around a quality rock number too.
In fact, at times you can
hear touches of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Wolfmother and even System of a Down, although they claim to be none of these.
Autozamm have done something that can be difficult in the rock genre, create their own sound, except at one point, on Waiting, the intro of which sounds almost exactly like the Feelers' Astronaut.
The slower Breathe may well be the best track on this album, but its use as a TVNZ promo jingle has spoiled its appeal somewhat.
The true standout is Days I Slept Through, an irresistible, high-velocity, metal-riffing number that offsets nicely the more general rock tracks.
On the whole, a good, solid rock album.
