Stylists show they're cut above competition

Many of Northland's top hairdressers competed at the Northland Regional Hairdressing Awards (NZARH), with Yana Boylan from Headlines Hairstylists taking out the Next Generation Northland Hairdresser of the Year while Hazel Newman, from Three Hairdressing, won the Senior Stylist Northland Hairdresser of the Year award.

Hair stylists from Villa Hairdressing, Headlines Hairstylists, NorthTec, Original Hair (Kerikeri), Three Hairdressing, Bliss Hair Salon (North Shore), and Team 7 Hairdressing (Te Awamutu) were judged by a panel of NZARH hairdressers from other regions. Competitors could choose from six sections, either live and presentation. The events included cutting and colour sections as well as long hair work and styling.

Ms Newman and Ms Boylan will submit their work to be judged against the other regional winners to compete for a trip to New York. Other winners included:
