Whangarei firm Ballistic Blondes, a sky-diving business (who'd have guessed) operating out of Whangarei airport, has opened a New Plymouth operation.
Managing director Davy Hogg said he and wife and co-owner Kelly Cullen believed diversification was the key to survival in tough times, and had discovered New Plymouth Airport had
no commercial sky-diving operation. So far, so good, he said, with excellent take-up from sport parachutists and a growing interest in tandem jumps.
The recession had hit trade but overseas students wanting sky-diving training continued to be the firm's biggest earners.
He said Ballistic Blondes' services included arranging accommodation and courses.
Mr Hogg, an English expat, is accredited to teach and examine instructors in the US, New Zealand and Australia.
