Robotic pool cleaners and home vacuum cleaners have become quite common in New Zealand - now Husqvarna is looking for people to test-drive Husqvarna Automowers.
The test is open to people through out the country, including Northland, said company spokeswoman Hannah Parr.
Participants in the test will be able toto keep their mower free, in exchange for 10 video reviews during the test period.
Ms Parr said Husqvarna wants to test different sized mowers on a wide variety of terrains, from postage stamp to large sections.
The battery-powered robotic lawnmower automatically mows lawns around the clock, without supervision. It operates in rain, does not leave track marks on soft turf, senses if the grass is higher in a given area and mows until the height is the same as the rest of the lawn.
In June, after a two-month registration period, Husqvarna will select a panel of garden owners for the test drive. Those selected will then have an authorised Husqvarna dealer install a Husqvarna Automower in their garden.
High-tech features include a pin-code lock, anti-theft alarm, automatic charging and an app that gives full control of the mower from a smartphone.
Registration is open now at www.automowertestpilots.co.nz and closes on May 31.
