Murray Broadbelt of Whangarei is one of four new trustees appointed to the ASB Community Trust.

Mr Broadbelt has completed a three-year term on the Lottery Northland Distribution Committee and was recently reappointed for another term.

He has also served on the Government's inaugural Consultative Committee on Youth Affairs, its Youth Advisory Committee and the Whangarei Advisory Board of the Prince of Wales Trust. He is also a member of the Scout Youth Foundation. In 2002 he set up Employer Services, an employment relations and employment law consultancy, advising employers in Northland and around New Zealand, and is on the board of the Northland Chamber of Commerce.

ASB Community Trust is an independent grant-making organisation supporting the work of not-for-profit groups in Auckland and Northland. Founded on the sale of its shares in ASB bank, the trust has made grants worth more than $750 million since being formed in 1988.

Any incorporated society or charitable trust can apply for funds, provided it is a not-for-profit organisation.
