Northland breakfast radio hosts are heading on a marathon tour of the region to coincide with their announcement they will be taking part in one of the biggest marathons in the world.

More FM Northland hosts John Markby and Angela "Flash" Gordon will be performing their No1-ranked breakfast show at five Northland locations to support the Northland Emergency Services Trust (NEST) Rescue Helicopter.

The duo are also taking on the New York Marathon on November 3.

Markby and Gordon will be broadcasting live from fire stations around Northland, and are inviting listeners to come along and write messages of support and donate money to the NEST Rescue Helicopter.

Gordon is excited and a little bit daunted by the challenge of running a full marathon with thousands of other people in one of the biggest cities in the world.

But she said she was proud she would be carrying the support of Northland.

"We are hoping a lot of people will join us while we are broadcasting - we need all the encouragement we can get to do our very first marathon," she said.

Markby said More FM Northland had always been a strong supporter of the NEST Rescue Helicopter and he was excited they would be spreading the word of its significance across Northland in an effort to raise money for the cause.
