If you've ever had dreams about achieving physical feats that seemed beyond reach, there is now a local company to help you get there.

Dream It, established by Michael Davis, is a first for Northland, taking on clients to help them achieve a specific fitness goal, such as running the New York Marathon.

As well as individualised training programmes, clients receive support from a full contingent of professionals, dubbed the "Dream Team", including physiotherapists, nutritionists, running coaches, podiatrists and biomechanists.

Mr Davis says Dream It emerged from his own experiences competing in some of the world's most gruelling endurance events, as well as working with top endurance sportspeople, including the Olympic swim team, David Tua, international rugby teams and America's Cup sailors.

"I've come to realise these elite athletes are just like the rest of us - except that they have the right support from the right professionals to believe in their dreams and to physically achieve them. We're all capable of achieving remarkable things, it's just that most of us don't believe it.

"I watch thousands of people completing five and 10km fun runs or half marathons that struggle with the confidence to take it a step further. With the right support, encouragement, specialist training and coaching, we're all capable of what we perceive to be impossible."

Mr Davis has the support of high profile Northland athlete, coach and nutritionist Ady Ngawati, an experienced endurance and multisport athlete, who has twice won the Auckland Marathon.

Ady says she's always been passionate about health and fitness.

"Not only for myself but for everyone around me. With Dream It, I can support others to push past barriers to new limits; I want to help people experience those amazing feelings of self-worth, dedication and accomplishment that come with achieving their health and fitness dreams."

Dream It is training and accompanying six people to the New York marathon in November and is also registering interest for the Great Wall, Athens and Las Vegas marathons next year.

Mr Davis says it's about having a goal, breaking it down into little steps and simply getting started.

"We're passionate about your everyday Mums and Dads, of all shapes and sizes, achieving exceptional things and transforming themselves and their dreams. It's hugely rewarding to play a part in this transformation - that is fundamentally what Dream It is about."
