A new diploma level paper for administrators and managers in the health and medical practice sector will be available on-line through NorthTec in July. The course is designed for people already working in the sector.
The New Zealand Institute of Management (NZIM) Diploma in Practice Management (Health) Level 5 willcover three major areas: the health system and health economics, legislation, regulations and compliance, cultural awareness and safety with an understanding of current health and welfare-related issues.
NorthTec business programme leader Rob Meadows said: "The qualification is for people working within the health sector. It is ideal for experienced and competent managers who are already managing or administrating health sector practices.
"NZIM, who developed the qualification, accredited NorthTec because we have a strong background in business management training and the support we provide the health sector with our Bachelor in Nursing degree."
The diploma will be offered as one-year full time or equivalent part-time course.
Normal NZIM diploma papers are available on-site or on-line at the Whangarei campus, and students also have the option of studying the full programme through other local providers.
However, the Management of Health Practices paper is available on-line through NorthTec and can be taken as a stand-alone paper.
Students can enrol to study six papers as part of a NZIM diploma programme (accounting principles, business communication, organisation and management, business computing, accounting practices and human resource management, on-site or online) before taking the Management of Health Practices paper.
