The couple, originally from Austria and Switzerland who have lived in New Zealand for 31 years, have also won a top award with booking.com for being one of the top accommodation properties in New Zealand.
Their current and last year's rating with booking.com was 9.9 out of 10.
"We are thrilled with this result," said Inge.
"We take a lot of pride in looking after our valued guests, providing them with an all-round professional service as well as advising them of what to see and do while visiting our area. We basically plan their stay from the minute they arrive till they depart," she said.
"We are passionate to provide the best service possible. We are seasoned travellers ourselves and appreciate exceptional service when we come across it."
Chalet Romantica was originally established by the Amslers as an upmarket accommodation property and home 25 years ago. Ten years ago it was changed to cater for the bed and breakfast market.
The Amslers live on site with Inge, and a helper cleaner, doing the daily tasks while Eddie looks after property maintenance.
He had a big input in the design and build of the chalet. Both speak English, German and French.
Their children, Alex and Nadine, have left home. Nadine works on "super yachts" and looks after the rich and famous while Alex works in Auckland.
Inge has a degree in hotel management having grown up in and worked in an upmarket hotel resort in the Austrian Alps before settling in New Zealand.
"We love living in New Zealand and the Bay of Islands. We believe New Zealand is the most versatile country on earth and the Bay of Islands the most beautiful part of it.
"We are keen sailors, bikers, we love the outdoors, travelling and meeting people."
