Truman Macarthy, a newly appointed authorised financial adviser with long-established Whangarei company Northland Money Management, and wife Phillipa came to like Northland so much in visits over the past five years they decided they wanted to bring up their infant daughter here. Both are a long way from where they started in life - Truman in North Canterbury and Phillipa in the Manawatu.

"We believe in the future of the district and want to play a role with this," he says.

Truman says in the 25 years he has been working in the financial services sector he has often been asked why he chooses to work with people and their money and replies: "Because it's challenging and rewarding."

He says providing a good service requires a detailed plan of circumstances versus goals and "as with any other task in life where you need some advice, you should work with qualified and experienced experts who put your interests first. You deserve nothing less."
