Butchers expand their horizons

Tikipunga Wholesale Meats has expanded to include the shop next door and the new business is called Tikipunga Fresh Food Ltd.

The premises next to Tikipunga Wholesale Meats had been empty for about five years and partners Steve Boobyer, wife Tarsh and Harley Roulston saw an opportunity to expand the business.

They will stock a range of convenience foods but also have gluten-free, organic and free-range products available.

"We've been stocking gluten-free and free-range [products] in the butchery for some time and they're a good seller," Mr Boobyer said. "It's good to offer a healthy choice."

Tikipunga Wholesale Meats has been operating for four and a half years and has a staff of four.

The premises has had a makeover with the front renovated.
