Run by the Northland Chamber of Commerce as part of the Westpac Northland Business Excellence Awards 2016, the Northern Advocate Business Hall of Fame Awardaims to recognise those who have, during their business career, demonstrated service to their industry and to Northland.
Chamber of commerce chief executive Tony Collins says organisers are particularly interested in business people from around the region and not just Whangarei.
"What makes them special and what they have contributed to the wider community," he said.
"In the past all their names have been synonymous with their particular location within the region and this connection, not only with business success but with their community, is really valuable."
Last year's Hall of Fame inductee was Jeroen Jongejans. Previous inductees have included Wayne Cowley (2014), the late Michael Springford (2013), Mike Simm (2012), Dave Culham (2011), Monty Knight (2010) Michael Hill (2009) and the first inductee, the late Tom McKay (2008).
