Dust-ups and spills thrill fans
The gloved-up and helmeted combatants were revved up and raring to go for the opening meeting of the speedway season staged at Meeanee Speedway on Saturday evening. The weather was kind, although the wind kicked up a bit of dust now and then, but the watering-truck teams ensured the surface was as good as it could get. There was some willing driving and riding, and along with the thrills there were a few spills as a couple of the stock-car pilots decided to carry out on-track tests of their roofs and rollbars. Above all there was plenty of oohing and ahhing, and cheering, with many of those who turned up to watch reckoning it was one of the best openings they had seen to what is set to be a great season. Paul Taylor was there to snap the action.
