Crowds descend on centre for carnival

Hundreds swamped the centre of Havelock North on Saturday for the Havelock North Village Street Carnival. Some perused the artisan stalls, while children made the most of games and the bouncy castle. A chilli-eating competition put on by The Hits radio station was a favourite with the crowd, as masses gathered to watch competitors chomp three chillies each and guzzle milk to cool the burn. Chief photographer Warren Buckland joined in the fun.
