The Nukes return to The Meteor in Hamilton on Saturday December 1 starting with a 5pm ukulele workshop then an evening concert where workshop participants play with the talented trio that audiences of all ages love.

Described as part vaudeville, part rat-pack, part musical car crash, The Nukes, from West Auckland, deliver an engaging mix of humour and originality.

They say there will be something for everyone in their "blisteringly good new ukulele workshop".

Proud of their quirky original songs — all written for the ukulele, The Nukes' workshops are always engaging and fun.

They will cover techniques and look at the playing skills that are useful for improving understanding of the ukulele, and the workshop will look at new songs and old.
No matter what your skill level you'll take away something useful.

All ages and levels are catered for, then can perform with the Nukes at the evening concert which begins at 7.30pm.

Great song-writing, musicianship and three-part harmony combine to create a memorable, entertaining experience for the audience. Founded by Dave Parker, Ben Collier and Dave 'Snapper' Thiele in 2008, The Nukes carved themselves a cosy niche in the cut-throat world of the New Zealand ukulele scene.

With the retirement of Thiele, The Nukes recruited multi-instrumentalist Mike Burrows.
During the past five years The Nukes have performed at something like 300 public shows, events and a further 200 primary schools where they have a specific ukulele-singing-dancing workshop where the kids get to perform with the band at the all-school show that follows.

Their three albums and songbook have sold platinum for New Zealand, with sales continuing as they spread their ukes about Australasia.

The Nukes celebrate their 10th anniversary this year with an upcoming Greatest Hits CD and songbook for March 2019 release.

The Nukes: Ukulele workshop/show, 5pm/7.30pm, Saturday, December 1, at The Meteor theatre, Hamilton.
