Hamilton News, NZME's community newspaper covering Hamilton and environs, presents a weekly snapshot of Hamilton happenings.
The newspaper started out as the Waikato Weekender when Barry Colman - publisher of National Business Review through his Liberty Press stable - saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the Waikato news
scene.
The paper was purchased in 1987 by Wilson and Horton Ltd, publisher of the New Zealand Herald and the Waikato Weekender was printed twice weekly as Waikato This Week in the NZ Herald.
Later it reverted to a tabloid and published weekly every Thursday, initially as Waikato This Week and latterly as Hamilton This Week.
Now, Hamilton News is enjoyed by locals every Friday.
