YMP out to continue roll in tripleheader at the ‘Y’

YMP will look to maintain their unbeaten run in Round 1 of the premier grade netball competition tonight at the YMCA but that should be put to the test by High School Old Girls.

Another tripleheader is on offer — Whangara Old Girls play Gisborne Girls' High Senior A at 5.45pm, Claydens Waikohu take on JT Contracting Horouta Gold at 6.45pm and YMP (1) meet defending champions F45 HSOG at 7.45pm.

YMP 1 have won three from three so far to sit on 12 points. Waikohu are on nine with two wins and a bonus-point loss, HSOG are on eight from two wins from four games and Whangara Old Girls are also on eight from two wins from four games.

Horouta have five points and Girls' High are on one.

HSOG gave glimpses of good teamwork in last weekend's 28-21 loss to Whangara but will need to bring it for the full game as YMP have been playing fast netball, with players running hard on to the ball and making themselves available.

Expect a competitive game, with plenty of skills on display.

Girls' High have been playing solid netball, working together well throughout the court.

However, they have yet to collect a win and will need to produce their “A” game against a Whangara side whose combinations are starting to gel as they work with new teammates.

This should be a closely-contested game.

Waikohu have impressed so far, with their only loss by a single goal.

Horouta started the season well but will need to work in concert as a team to repel Waikohu's tight marking game.
