FORMER Gisborne surfer Kai Woolf won the under-18 girls’ division in the Billabong Grom Series event at Whangamata yesterday.
Woolf recently returned to New Zealand from her native South Africa for her last year of school, and is now based in Raglan, where she attends the Raglan Surf Academy.
She
was based in Gisborne during her previous stay in New Zealand.
Woolf finished the final with a two-wave score of 13 points out of a possible 20. Runner-up was Estella Hungerford, of Christchurch, on 10pts.
Gisborne surfer Asia Braithwaite was third in the u14 girls’ final. Mount Maunganui sisters Anna and Sophia Brock were first and second respectively.
