HEAVY surf and walls of whitewater at Midway Beach yesterday tested the endurance of all competitors on day 2 of the national surfing championships.
Such was the power of the seas that some struggled to get out let alone surf. Gisborne surfers showed their home break knowledge in the openwomen’s and men’s heats, with a good number of locals advancing.
