The Coast led Cullinane 17-15 at halftime, with Moko adding another two tries to her collection. Tihore, centre Dane-a Kopa and No.8 Kingston Taiapa also scored two tries apiece.
Loosehead prop Manaia Rangihuna was their player of the game.
The Coast, who were fourth of six teams in Pool A last year, today faced defending A Grade champions St Mary’s College (Wellington) and Te Waiwhenua College (Levin).
They won one and lost one.
And today at the Ian Colquhoun Invitational under-14 rugby tournament in Palmerston North, the Duane Hihi-coached Gisborne Boys’ High School faced hosts Palmerston North BHS to decide which of them make the top 4.
Hamilton beat Gisborne 31-12 in Game 1 yesterday after the teams were locked 5-all at the break.
Gisborne’s try-scorers were captain and openside flanker Puna Hihi and blindside flanker Maia Campbell.
First five-eighth Safin Tuwairua-Brown kicked a conversion.
Gisborne beat Tauranga Boys’ College 28-19 in Game 2 after leading 21-12 at halftime.
Campbell scored two tries, and left-wing Tyrese Thomas and Tuwairua-Brown also crossed for tries.
Tuwairua-Brown kicked three conversions and fullback Wade Perrett potted a coversion.
“We were in the game with Hamilton but took our foot off the throat and gave that game away,” said coach Hihi.
“It was a better effort versus Tauranga. Our forwards dominated but we’re still to hit our peak.”
