NORTHERN Spirit, featuring Poverty Bay players Mel Knight and Kerry Tomlinson, yesterday completed a two-from-three record against Otago Sparks in women’s domestic competition cricket at Lincoln.

Northern won the twenty20 game on Sunday. They made 135-4 off their 20 overs, including eight runs to Tomlinson, then restricted Otago to 132-6. Knight returned bowling figures of 0-21 off two overs.

Otago won the first of two 50-over one-day matches on Monday. Northern made 167-9, Tomlinson scoring 14 off 35 balls and Knight 3. Otago comfortably chased down the total for the loss off just one wicket, Knight returning 0-15 off three overs.

Yesterday’s second one-dayer was a thriller. Otago scored 249--8, with Knight picking up 2-45 off eight overs. Northern got to 250 for the loss of five wickets and with three balls to spare. Tomlinson scored 19.
