“They have had a draw, and Whangara won the other match by just one goal.
“Whangara played really well last Wednesday. The whole team worked together and moved the ball at speed through the court.
“Champers Horouta Gold will need to bring their top game if they want to stop them taking a win this time.”
Whangara coach Ronnie Martin has been pleased with her team’s lift in performance.
“We are finally starting to play some good netball and I want the team to come out strong against Horouta.
“We need to keep winning points to stay in the top four,” Martin said.
“It was a good effort last week against Waikohu.
“I did not expect the score to be as big as that, but it shows the team members are becoming more settled in their playing positions.”
Martin said she was happy with their new centre combination.
“It certainly worked a whole lot better for us last Wednesday night.”
Uncertainty hangs over the second game tonight, at 7.30pm, between Waikohu (1) and Ritana Senior A.
“Waikohu will be smarting over last Wednesday’s loss and will have worked on the errors they made,” Beale said.
“I expect them to come out firing.
“However, Ritana have been playing well. They only just lost to second-placed Taste One High School Old Girls in the last five minutes last Wednesday.
“If they can produce the same intensity and consistency, the students will be strong contenders to take this game.”
Last Wednesday they pushed HSOG all the way, and actually had the match tied up at 41-all at three-quartertime, but HSOG recovered to win 55-50.
Waikohu coach Cheryl Te Rito said she had four of her team playing with the flu last week.
“They should have been home in bed, but they came to play anyway,” she said.
“This week they’re all healthy, and there shouldn’t be any excuses.
“We expect a tough game but a nice clean one from the students.”
