DARTS

PLAY in the Turanganui a Kiwa Darts Association A and B grades got under way in the Brezz’n Darts Club’s Tuesday competition night last week.

Six teams are in the A Grade, which has a 21-game format. The five-team B Grade has a 15-game format.

In A Grade action, the Sharks sharpened their teeth, or dart points, and took a little bite at top team Ford Falcons.

Sharks spoiled the Falcons’ rhythm, taking five good wins, but Falcons dominated the rest of the contest, winning 16-5.

The Sharks’ successes were: a 3-0 singles victory to Missy Campbell over Sam Kirikino; 2-1 pairs wins to Nikki-Jean Stevenson and Campbell against Sam and Peter Tom, and Harley Ngarangione and Antonio Curtis; a 2-1 pairs victory to Curly Kerr and Ken Lewis over Sam and Peter Tom; and a 3-1 singles victory to new-season campaigner Dylan Brown over Sam Kirikino. Brown threw his first 180 of the season on his way to this win.

In the B Grade, Pythons upset Ruahine with an 11-4 win.

There were some close-fought games, but Pythons threw some great finishing darts to come out ahead in both the singles and pairs.
