Eleven teams are entered in Turanganui a Kiwa Darts Association’s winter league run by Brezz’n Darts Club.

Competition started on Tuesday night, and the grading round over the next 11 weeks will determine the make-up of the A and B grades.

The grading round 15-game format meant hard-fought contests. Game of the night was Tao Matarau versus Pythons.

The club’s newest team, Tao Matarau — made up of junior and youth players Ani Tangira (captain), Irie Eyles, Shaolyn Edwards, Hunter Eyles, Braiden Pokai-Giddens,Te Waiawa Irwin and player-coach Matiu Hawea — lost a close match against a new-look Pythons team.

They, too, had good representation from the junior and youth ranks — Temple Edwards, Summer Takarua, Mere Keenan and Shannon Eyles — as well as mums, aunties, Uncle Kiri Hawea, Hine Wharehinga, Joanne Matete and Antz Hulley.
