DIFFERENT balls, same objective . . . and that objective was achieved by Uawa and Gisborne United on a wet, windy Saturday afternoon.

Uawa defeated TVC 11-8 in the final of the Ngati Porou East Coast club rugby competition at Whangaparaoa/Cape Runaway.

Gisborne United beat Western Rangers 6-0 at Harry Barker Reserve to clinch the Pacific Premiership football crown — finishing one point ahead of Maycenvale.

Across at Childers Road Reserve, Gisborne Thistle were also in winning form, beating Palmerston North Marist 5-2 in a Central Federation League football game.
