GISBORNE surf athletes Cory Taylor and Olivia Corrin have four hectic rounds of the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series ahead of them on the Gold Coast from tomorrow.

The Gisborne duo go into the four back-to-back rounds to decide who will be crowned the 2022 champions in the top 10.

The men's and women's fields both have 20 competitors.

Current Australian Ironwoman champion Georgia Miller will return this weekend, after missing the opening two rounds following medical advice to not race. Hot on her heels will be Northcliffe teammate Harriet Brown, who will be looking for another podium finish after her first and second place finishes at North Bondi last month.

The battle for the Ironwoman crown is shaping up to be fierce, with Northcliffe's Hannah Sculley, New Zealanders Danielle McKenzie and Corrin, dual Olympian Aly Bull and former Series champion Brielle Cooper rounding out the top seven.

All of them, Corrin included, will be eyeing podium performances over the next four days.

Corrin recorded her best-ever results in the first two rounds at North Bondi in Sydney with 11th and fifth-equal placings to be sixth overall, on 24.5 points, heading into the final four rounds.

She has been racing extremely well and her results have been a huge credit to her, given she went into the series as a “wild card”.

In the men's event the big question will be whether anyone can stop Nutri-Grain IronMan Series leader Ali Day, who sits atop the points ladder after a perfect opening weekend with two wins from two starts.

Taylor sits in eighth position after the two Bondi rounds, again out of 20 competitors.

The four rounds begin tomorrow at Kurrawa Beach in Queensland and conclude on Sunday.

Sky Sport NZ will carry live coverage of the events at 2pm on each of the four days.
