Table to decide Senior One club crown for 2020

There will be no play-offs to crown the Poverty Bay Senior One club rugby champions this year.

The Civil Project Solutions Senior One title will instead be decided by points — with two weeks of round-robin play to go.

Poverty Bay Rugby chief executive officer Josh Willoughby said the regular season results table would be used to decide the winners of the competition.

It's a top-of-the-table clash this weekend, with leaders YMP travelling to Wairoa to face second-placed Tapuae.

Only one point separates the top two — although YMP have a match in hand — so it should be a close affair, with each side having suffered only one loss.

Tapuae, however, lost four points earlier in the season due to having ineligible players.

With Tapuae having the bye in the final week of the competition, it's all on the line for the team this Saturday if they want to take claim the top honours in their final game of the season.

Poverty Bay Rugby is exploring options to livestream on Facebook what could be a make-or-break clash between the sides.

In last weekend's games, YMP beat Pirates 43-0 while Tapuae defeated Athletic 43-14.
