SURF conditions could be ideal on Saturday for the Gisborne Boardriders Club’s first competition of the year.

Cyclone Victor is forecast to produce north-east swell in the two-to-four-foot range combined with off-shore north-west winds.

Under 12 to over 60 and longboard divisions will be contested.

A text will go out to people who have registered early on Saturday morning to confirm the location but Wainui or Makorori are the likely venues.

As an incentive to get this year’s club fees early, everyone who has paid by the second club competition in March will go into the draw for a surfboard.
