Super 8 hockey tournament results

Tauranga won 7-0, relegating Gisborne to a playoff for seventh and eighth against Rotorua Boys’ High first thing this morning.

Gisborne looked set for another heavy loss at 3-0 down to Rotorua at halftime but rallied brilliantly before going down 4-3.

New Plymouth and Hamilton Boys’ High were to decide the overall champions.

Results from day 2, pool play: Gisborne 0 Napier 5, New Plymouth 3 Palmerston North 2, Hastings 0 Hamilton 0, Tauranga 5 Rotorua 1.

Cross-play: Hastings 2 Rotorua 0, Tauranga 7 Gisborne 0, New Plymouth 4 Napier 2, Hamilton 3 Palmerston North 1.
