“For us, Kayley Knight (2-32 off four overs) bowled well in her second spell and Rubi Perano (39 from 24 balls, including eight boundaries at No.4) batted superbly.”
Perano hit every short ball bowled to her through square leg for four. No.2 Bayleigh Colbert (16 off 14 balls) was also in good form.
The women were bowled out for 73 in 10.3 overs.
First-change seamer Trowell took 3-4 off two overs, Mohammed Farook (1-20 off two) made a successful return to cricket and fellow off-spinner Stewart (1-7 off 1.3) closed the innings when wicketkeeper Cohen Loffler ran back to catch Kayley Knight off a top edge.
Blake Marshall is a talented cricketer.
The 14-year-old all-rounder top-scored with 36 retired, off 20 balls, in Campion’s 192-2 against the primary boys, then took 2-11 off two overs with the ball.
Hard-hitting first drop Liam Spring (32 from 20, retired) and No.2 Liam Barbier (25 retired, off 20 balls) gave Marshall great support with the bat, while teammate Luke Hurlstone (2-8 off two overs) was later Campion’s best bowler.
The primary team were dismissed for 77 in 14 overs. Dylan Foster (18 from No.4) was their best batsman.
Campion captain Max Briant said: “Our bowling attack got us off to a good start and we fielded well. That set the tone.”
In Wednesday’s C Grade games next week, Gisborne Boys’ High School play the primary reps and Campion College meet Gisborne Girls’ High School.
