The Jimmy Holden-coached team yesterday became the first Poverty Bay cricket side this season to record a win at the Riverbend tournament with their 30-run victory over Rotorua in Game 2 of six.

The Arlo Willis-led Bay were dismissed for 146 in 30 overs but bowled out Rotorua for 116.

Jack Holden (Poverty Bay's most valuable player in both Game 2 and the 16-run loss to Western Bay of Plenty White yesterday afternoon) last night joined Joel Kirkpatrick on the camp honours board, with two four-wicket hauls on Day 2.

No.5 batsman Jonah Reynolds, with 22, was the Bay's leading run-scorer against Rotorua. Brandon Fearnley scored 15 at No.6.

Isaac Tau took 2-22 for Rotorua.

Jack Holden then took 4-7 off three overs as Rotorua were bowled out in 25.2 overs. Kirkpatrick (3-7 off 2.1 overs) and Reynolds (2-5 off two) also bowled well.

For Rotorua, RJ Tau hit four fours in his 19-ball innings of 20, batting at No.8.

Reynolds, captain against Western BOP, won the toss and chose to bowl first at Frimley Park.

Holden was again in top form, taking 4-6 off three overs, and Reynolds took 2-4 off three as Western Bay made 112 in 30 overs.

The Bay were bowled out for 96 in 25.3 overs. Reynolds (21 off 32 from No.8) was top-scorer.

Western BoP seamers Cooper Jobson (2-1 off 2.3 overs), Will Morris (2-6 off three) and Leif de Monchy (2-7 off three) were superb.
