Gisborne triathlete Tayler Reid’s coach Stephen Sheldrake says the world under-23 champion will have to push the reset button ahead of next week’s ITU World Cup race in Ecuador, after Reid finished 34th in Sarasota, Florida, yesterday.
“With the terrible weather they had in Florida, the water quality was bad
and the 750-metre swim, Tayler’s strength, was dropped for a two-kilometre run,” Sheldrake said.
“That aside, he made some simple mistakes.”
The race was won by France’s Luis Vincent in 48 minutes 18 seconds. Reid’s New Zealand teammate Dan Hoy finished seventh in 48:37, with Reid crossing the line in 50:11.
