A SMALL field of riders took the start gate as Gisborne BMX Club’s 2015 season draws to an end.

Striders and half-track — Alex Kelly was joined by Ivy and Ada Lasenby, Jackson Young and Zara Law for five motos. These riders are improving each week and having some close races.

Five and under — Reave Nepia-Anderson was again the rider to beat, although Brad O’Connell-Bacon tried hard to keep up. Zavier Iremonger finished the day in third place, with Asher Nepia-Anderson fourth.

Six and seven — Kyran Lasenby had a good night on the bike with five hard-fought wins. Aliyah Lardelli was second overall, with Louie Sanders third, followed by Sam Lloyd and Liam Spence.

Eight and nine — Seth Iremonger was too quick for Lea Lloyd, although she tried hard to keep up.

Ten and 11 — Dane Berry put in five tidy laps for five wins, with Ruby-Anne Smith chasing him. Miah Somerton raced hard for third, followed by Breanna Iremonger.

Twelve and 13 — Joshua Lardelli was too smooth with five from five, with Cjay Ingram in hot pursuit, taking second overall. Jimmy Jones — proving to be as handy round the race track as he is on the dirt jumps — was third, followed by Ben McCosh and Noah Warman.

Fourteen and 15 — Taylah Pragnell raced off for five wins, ahead of Krystal Smith and Kate McCosh.

Sixteen-plus A — Justin Nepia was looking good for five from five till he ended up in the pro section in the final moto. Phill Gill came home in second place, with Ethan Rogers, Troy Greaves and Tim Smith rounding out the field.

Eighteen-plus B — Jason Lasenby had another good night and led the pack home. Rob Graham took his 20-inch bike for a ride, winning a moto and gaining second place overall, with Bryce Kelly third. Sharyn Lardelli joined the boys and was getting to grips with her new bike.

The next club-night will probably be the last for 2015 so club organisers are hoping to see as many riders there as possible for a good night’s racing.

Any updates will be on the Gisborne BMX Club’s Facebook page.
