Whangara Old Girls and YMP will be a handful for their opponents in midweek premier-grade netball at the YMCA tonight.

The 6pm clash between Whangara and Gillies Electrical Gisborne Girls' High School Senior A gives Whangara the chance to correct the ledger on the last time they met each other.

“It was a draw last time these two teams met, but it is now pool games before the teams go into semi finals and the stakes have ramped up,” netball commentator Sherrill Beale said.

“Whangara have secured a win in pool play and will want to add another one to their total.

“The students have not recorded a win in pool play yet and will need to bring their top game tonight.

“The students will need to have all players working together, if they want to stop the experienced Whangara Old Girls.”

The second match-up at 7.30pm pits YMP Sunshine Brewery against Horouta Gold.

“YMP have been playing well and finished top of the grade at the end of Round 2,” Beale said.

“They have secured a win in pool play and, like Whangara, will be determined to add a second.

“Horouta Gold have yet to record a win in pool play and will find it very tough to do so tonight.

“They will need to have all of their players working together for the full hour if they want to stop YMP's run.”
