Raggett and Bryon win handicap pairs

BILL Raggett and Les Bryon won Gisborne Cosmopolitan Snooker Club’s handicap pairs competition last Saturday.

They beat Neil Robinson and Tiny Thompson two frames to nil in the final.

Raggett and Bryon had a handicap of 18, and Robinson and Thompson had a handicap of 14.

Eight pairs took part in the competition. Those qualifying from section play were Tony Murphy and Dave Grigg, Raggett and Bryon, Robinson and Thompson, and Steve Wood and Frank Murphy.

Raggett and Bryon defeated Murphy and Grigg in one semifinal; Robinson and Thompson beat Wood and Murphy in the other.

COMING UP: The Gisborne leg of the New Zealand Masters’ Tournament will be held over Queen’s Birthday Weekend — from Friday, June 3, to Sunday, June 5.

Visiting players are included in a full field of 48.

Following that, on Saturday, June 11, the Cosmopolitan Club’s Ray Swann Championship Pairs will be held.
