The country’s finest amateur men’s and women’s golfers will converge on Gisborne for the 2020 New Zealand strokeplay championship.
Poverty Bay Golf Club has been confirmed as the host of the 2020 amateur at a date to be confirmed.
The New Zealand men’s strokeplay and matchplay was held at PovertyBay in 1991 and featured golfers that have become household names including Michael Campbell, Robert Allenby and Phil Tataurangi.
Those titles have since been split into two separate tournaments featuring male and female players.
Poverty Bay Golf Club manager Dave Keown said it was “fantastic” news and “exciting times” for the club and district.
