Malcolm Trowell was unstoppable in the final of the Poverty Bay-East Coast Indoor Bowls Centre Open Singles. He defeated Matthew Foster 11-4 in the nine-end final.

Trowell was 4-0 up after three ends, but Foster then picked up one shot on End 4 and two shots on End 5 to be only 4-3 down.

End 6 was the telling end. Foster held shot but Trowell pushed Foster's shot bowl off the mat to gain three shots and lead 7-3.

On End 7 Trowell drew shot after shot but Foster couldn't get near the kitty. This gifted Trowell four shots and he led 11-3. Foster picked up one point on the eighth end and the pair shook hands.

Trowell now has 13 gold-star-status titles. This was his 43rd centre title all up. Trowell puts a lot of time into the sport behind the scenes, as Poverty Bay-East Coast selector. He has selected top teams of late, with great success.
