YMP reigned supreme in Poverty Bay women's A-grade club hockey in another chapter of their long-time rivalry with GMC Green.

The “Black Beauties” beat “The Green Machine” 3-2 in a penalty shootout in the final on the blue turf at Harry Barker Reserve on Saturday.

YMP and GMC have met in every A-grade or premier women's final since 2014 — an extra time win to YMP that year.

Of the nine consecutive finals the teams have contested, YMP have won seven and GMC two (2018, 2019).

YMP men have an even more impressive record.

Their 3-1 win against HPY Advisors LOB in the premier men's final was their 13th title since the year 2000 — two of those shared.

YMP men have been in 21 of the 23 finals, including the past seven, since the turn of the century.
