THE award for “most spectacular incident” in Eastland Kart Club racing has stayed in the De La Haye family, of Motu.

Last year Robyn De La Haye won the award and this year it went to her husband Robert.

Their son Tim won the young guns class, daughter Hayley won the junior KTs, and Robyn's father Fred Winterton (60-plus) won the “best-presented” award and shared the “most promising driver” award with nine-year-old Pyper Irvine.

Seth Hall, with his KT100, won the award for most feature wins.

The Michie Family Award for highest points overall went to Nixen Gooch (rookies) and Harley Davis (pro class).

About 40 people attended the kart club's prize-giving, which was held at the Gisborne Speedway Club rooms, thanks to speedway club president Clyde McGrory.

Barry Irvine was master of ceremonies.

Dion Lund got the trophy for the club's most helpful member for all his work with the mower and weed-eater.
