Kahutia’s Dayvinia Mills and Te Karaka’s Marie Wright were in the winning team at the Ohope Bowling Club’s Midwinter $3000 Paradise Women’s Fours this week.
Mills at lead and Wright at two set a solid platform for skip Betty Herring and three Martie Sisson, both from the host club, inthe five games they played.
The tournament drew 24 teams from all around the North Island. Out of the four teams who had four wins, the Herring combination won 32 ends to take the victory from the other three sides, who had won only 30 ends.
Prized scalps included the Ngongotaha four, who contained Bay of Plenty representative bowlers Mina Paul, Mere Eden and PK Tamehana.
They also had a big win in the crucial fifth game against a team skipped by current Bay of Plenty Bowler of the Year Sue Hodges and including former New Zealand representative Mary Campbell.
