Ian McGrory won the adults’ feature and Kolten Irvine the kids’ version at Eastland Kart Club‘s eighth points meeting of the season.

Rain last week kept some moisture in the track, and it had to be watered only twice. Spectators were treated to some hard, fast racing on Sunday.

Twelve carts raced over 12 laps in the adults’ feature race at the end of the meeting. One lap had to be a shorter, “joker” lap, and drivers decided where to include it in their race.

McGrory is making a habit of carrying the chequered flag in a victory lap.

Shane Murrell was second, Sam Hughes third, Oscar Murrell fourth, Mike Vita fifth and Tessa Irvine sixth.

The kids’ feature was contested by a mixed field of rookies and juniors over eight laps, with no joker lap. Kolten Irvine was followed by Asha Hughes in second place, Lennox McIndoe third, Max Archer fourth, Chloe Hughes fifth and Tyrone Jones sixth.

Daniel Taylor recorded the fastest time for the feature race joker lap – 20.452s.

Fastest lap time for the juniors was Kolten Irvine’s 23.952s, while the fastest time for the rookies was McIndoe’s 27.102s.

Before the features, adults had four heats each, with the groups mixed so drivers got to race against everyone else.

McGrory had three wins and one third placing; Sam Hughes had two wins and two thirds; Harley Davis had a win, a second and a third; Bill Mooney had a win, a second and two thirds; Shane Murrell had a win and a second; Oscar Murrell had three seconds; Vita had two seconds; and Shaun Barwick and Barry Irvine each had one third placing.

In the rookies’ class, Chloe Hughes had three wins, McIndoe had three second placings, and Archer had three thirds.

In the juniors, Kolten Irvine took all three wins, Asha Hughes had three seconds, and Jones had three thirds.

Drivers of the day were Liam Nicol for the adults and Chloe Hughes for the kids.
