GISBORNE golfer Tessa McDonald suffered a third consecutive loss at the Toro women's national interprovincial tournament in Ashburton this morning.

McDonald, playing at No.5 for Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay, lost her match in a 3-2 team loss to defending champions Auckland. She was beaten 2 and 1 by Shantael Ligaliga.

It followed two losses for McDonald on day 1 of the interprovincial - 2 and 1 in a 5-0 defeat by Canterbury and 4 and 3 in a 4-1 win over Tasman. HBPB were back on the course this afternoon in a clash with Waikato.

McDonald, who has been doing a teaching degree in Hamilton for the past two years, tried out for the Waikato team but narrowly missed selection. The other members of the HBPB team are Hawke's Bay-based Kate Chadwick, Janie Field, Jaimie McIvor and Sara Deam.
